Attendance Policy

Canyons has recently updated their attendance policy. It now reads as the following:

Illness or Medical Appointment after five guardian excused absences for illness, a parent provides a note from a health care provider to the front office. School front office staff records absence as E-DR (Excused Doctor).

What that means is that after a student has 5 guardian/parent excused absences (for the ENTIRE Year), the next absence will need a doctor’s note to be excused. Even if you call as a guardian/parent and excuse the absence- after the 5th absence it will be counted as unexcused without a doctor’s note.

Students and parents can still submit Vacation Leave Forms and these absences will NOT count against the student’s 5 days.
