Greetings to all! My name is Lorraine Lapadat and I am a 3rd Grade SALTA teacher at Sunrise Elementary. Here is a small glimpse of background information about me. I grew up in a small town in Northern Indiana. Correction: I grew up in the surrounding countryside of a small town in Indiana. Population: about 50. The closest town was called Culver, Indiana. Population: 1,500. Perhaps you've heard of it? no? That's no surprise! The only thing famous about my hometown is the famous Culver Military Academy and Lake Maxinkuckee. I spend my childhood hiking in the woods, reading great books and riding my bike and dirt bike. I graduated from Purdue University, and then attended Indiana University to acquire my elementary teaching certificate a few years later. In August of 2017, I finished my Masters in Education degree from Southern Utah University.
On the home front, I have been married forever (30 years) and have two amazing kids. My son is a senior at Utah State and my daughter is a senior at Brighton High. I have been teaching for twenty plus years and I am still going strong. I have taught a wide range of students from two-year old preschoolers through sixth graders. All grades really with the exception of first grade. Those teachers possess the magical skills of teaching kids how to read. This is something I have never attempted, but always admired. I have been working with SALTA style kids for the majority of my teaching career. I am passionate about this unique student population.
In closing, I am so excited to be part of this supportive Sunrise community. I look forward to working with you and your children and to watching them grow throughout the school year.
