Learning about other Native American Tribes is one of the focuses of our Social Studies curriculum for 3rd grade. To go along with these units, we are asking students to complete an at-home research project on a SPECIFIC Native American tribe.

The main goal of the project is to research the culture of a Native American Tribe. The topics the student will be researching include: Location, Geography/Climate, Food, Clothing, Shelter, and Other Facts.

The presentations will be completed using:

  • Google Classroom: Slides: Presentation must include 5 topics slides, with 1 slide and at least 3 sentences per topic. Images on each topic is recommended OR

  • Poster Board:Students must include 5 topics with at least 3 sentences per topic. Images on each topic is recommended.

Presentations must use at least two credible sources such as: reputable websites, interviews, published books, or informational articles.

After students have completed their slides or poster board they will give a 5-10 minute presentation about the information they have researched on their Native American Tribe. They will also present to the class their decorated Native American Doll.

Directions for the Native American Doll:

  1. CUT out the doll shape. Do not mount it on any kind of backing.

  2. RESEARCH the tribe you choose and be as accurate as you can to dress the doll.

  3. When dressing the doll please use every day normal household items and be creative. Grocery bags, feathers, buttons, materials, sequins, beads, ribbon, lace, scratch paper, yarn, Q-tips, beads, etc. will all work well.

We are excited to see the beautiful work that you will present!
