Topic 1: Understand Multiplication and Division of Whole Numbers
Students will be leaning about:
Multiplication as Repeated Addition
Multiplication on the Number line
Arrays and Multiplication
The Commutative Property
Division as Sharing
Division as Repeated Subtraction
Your kids learned how to navigate our Math program’s online features called Practice Buddies. Practice Buddies are completed to reinforce and practice the skills we are learning each day in math. Students complete one Practice Buddy lesson at school, then complete a different Practice Buddy lesson at home for homework Monday thru Thursday evenings. We love this program because it allows students to seek question help and practice important math skills each day.

Language Arts
Reading Street Story: When Charlie McButton Lost Power
Students will be learning about:
Literary Elements: character, setting, theme and plot
Comprehension Skill: applying background knowledge to a text
Conventions: homonyms & context clues for vocabulary words
Spelling: Unit 1 Week 1: words with spelling pattern VC/CV
Writing: narrative essays
Content Integration Keyboarding begins for 3rd graders in the computer lab in one week.
Brain BoostersThird graders attend special classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays for Brain Boosters. Students rotate through the following classes this year:
Creativity Computer Lab taught by Mrs. Lindsay Christensen
Playworks (P.E. based program) taught by Mrs. Leesa Mansouri
Music taught by Mrs. Katie Rasmussen
Library taught Mrs. Janis Kearl and Mrs. Annette Evans
